In the last few months there has been a lot of attention given to what a terrible effect sitting can have on your health. In fact, there were claims that it’s as bad for your health as smoking. Certainly, it makes sense that sitting for long periods without a break could be a problem. However, the mere act of being seated might not be an irreversible health hazard. The Washington Post did a nice little piece on how taking frequent brisk walking breaks can mitigate risks. For all the details check out their article here.

Many of us health care practitioners have been saying it for years – it’s very important to get up and move around rather than staying seated for most of an eight hour shift. So get out of your chair and take a walk!
